ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
When entering Mexico, visitors are given a tourist
card valid for 30 days. They must keep this document safe and return it to Mexican
Immigration official upon departure. The citizens of some countries also need a visa.
CLIMATE
Its location in the south coast of Baja California ensures ideal
vacation weather. With a mean temperature of 80 degrees F. (28 degrees C.) and an averag
sunny days a year; great weather and a tan are virtually guaranteed. In winter,
temperatures compare quite well with pleasant North-American or European summer day.
TIME ZONE
Los Cabos are on Mountain Time. Daylight saving time is observed
in all the peninsula during the Summer.
DRESS CODE
Bring cool cotton clothing and comfortable shoes. While dress is
casual in Cabo, you may find a few restaurants you would like to dress up for dinner.
jeans, shorts and sandals are acceptable attire for bars and discos.
WATER
Even though some hotels and restaurants 114-0-6 , have special
water purification systems, it is more safe if you drink bottled purified water. Los Cabos
are in the tropics, so make sure you drink plenty of water and watch your exercise in the
sun.
SECURITY
Vacationers are not bothered by unwelcome vagrants.
Unobtrusively, and very effectively, the local "Policia" patrols the streets and
beaches, keeping tight control on all undesirable persons. Hotel rooms have deposit boxes
where valuables can be locked away. Visitors are safe walking on the streets day of night
either in Cabo San Lucas or San Jose.
CAR RENTAL
All major car rental companies have offices in Cabo San Lucas and
San Jos6, the airport, major hotels and shopping centers. You need a valid driver license
in order to rent a vehicle. Gas is sold by liters in M6dco. The
speed limits are 90 kins. per hour (55 mph) on the highways and 40 kms per hour (25 mph)
in the city.
TRANSPORT
Major resorts have large taxi fleets. You will p always find a
taxi available at the lobby or Ai" else, you can askthe bellboy to call for a taxi f
I or flag one down the streets.
CONSULATES
There is a Consular Agency of the United States of America in
C.S.L. if in trouble call Mr. David C. Greengberg at (114) 335 66.
VOLTAGE
120 Volts, 60 Cycles AC. Europeans who bring electrical equipment
need to use a converter compatible with the North American system. #12;
TIPPING
The average tip is 15%. You can tip in dollars or Mexican pesos.
Avoid giving U.S. coins, since local employees will not be able to use or change them.
BANKS
Regular banking for money exchange are from 8:30 to via 13:00
hrs. There are banks which close at 14:30, 17:00 or 19:00 hrs. After these hours, money
can be exchanged in hotels, restaurants and money exchange offices (located all over).
When going to a bank, make sure they will exchange your money before getting in line.
HEALTH SERVICES
These Services can be found in Cabo San Lucas at "Cabo
Medical Care"Ph. (114) 307 74 and "Clinica Levy-Health Center" Ph. (114)
305 67 also, there is the "I.M.S.S. Hospital" on the highway to Todos Santos
where emergencies can be attended. La Paz, a two hour drive from C.S.L. has specialized
hospitals and English speaking doctors.
