SYNOPSIS: Set in a remote fishing village of Baja California during the
1960s, King Of The Moon tells the story of Mexican subsistence fishermen
and their families caught up in a battle for economic and cultural survival.

A spring rainstorm has severed the only road, and the village of Caleta
Agua Amargosa slumbers through the hot, tropical summer, seemingly
without a future. One-by-one, the fishermen and their families load
their few belongings into fragile skiffs and move away. The village, for
all practical purposes, has ceased to exist.

But the family of fisherman Abundio Rodriguez decides to make one last
stand before submitting to the inevitable. Against all odds, and despite
wrenching tragedy, they level a rustic airstrip and paint a sign on the cliff above the village in an attempt to attract American tourist sport anglers.

For the Rodriguez family, the landing of an American plane becomes a
bitter, two-edged sword, as they are required to give up part of their dignity, in
return for economic survival.

King Of The Moon’s message of multi-cultural understanding and tolerance
reverberates through our times. Told powerfully and intimately from the
viewpoint of its unforgettable Mexican characters, it brings to life our
need to understand the universality of the human condition.
